Report a correction or update

Carrier rules, policy forms, Citizens programs, and state guidance can change. We welcome documented corrections from carriers, appointed agents, regulators, and readers.

Quick answers

How do I report an error I found on this site?Use the contact page with specifics — include the exact URL, the sentence or field at issue, and the requested correction.
What kind of proof should I include with a correction request?A current, authoritative source — a carrier underwriting manual, bulletin, OIR filing, or official statute is stronger than a single agent’s experience.
How does the editorial team decide whether to accept a correction? They check authenticity, currency and authority — whether the source is genuine, current, applies to the same program, and outranks the existing source.
Does advertising with the directory get a carrier better treatment on corrections? No — advertising or referral relationships don’t determine whether a source is accepted or how a carrier is described.
What counts as an urgent correction?Anything involving a legal deadline or active harmful error — a Citizens eligibility or flood-requirement mistake, an unauthorized carrier, a tool calculation defect, or a concern that a page reveals confidential or nonpublic source material.

How to report a correction

Use the contact page and include:

  1. The exact page URL
  2. The sentence, table row, carrier field, or tool result at issue
  3. The requested correction
  4. The carrier, program, policy form, and property type involved
  5. The source and its effective or revision date
  6. Your relationship to the information, if relevant

Do not submit passwords, payment information, Social Security numbers, complete unredacted policies, claim medical information, or other unnecessary personal data.

What documentation is helpful?

Carrier underwriting and eligibility corrections should include a reliable, current source whenever possible. Useful documentation includes:

  • Carrier underwriting manual or eligibility guide
  • Carrier bulletin or official FAQ
  • Policy form or endorsement
  • Florida OIR filing or consent order
  • Citizens form, bulletin, manual, or program document
  • Florida statute, rule, or official regulator guidance
  • A redacted screenshot from an authenticated carrier resource showing the carrier, program, rule, and date

A statement that an agent or homeowner got a different result can flag something for us to investigate. But one individual outcome doesn’t automatically replace a published carrier rule.

How corrections are reviewed

The editorial team checks four things: whether the source is authentic, whether it’s current, whether it applies to the same program, and whether it’s more authoritative than the existing source. The review also considers:

  • Carrier and legal entity
  • Admitted or surplus-lines context
  • Policy form and program
  • New business or renewal
  • Territory and property type
  • Effective and revision dates
  • Whether the statement is eligibility, coverage, rating, or a case-specific underwriting decision
  • Whether another current source conflicts with it

When reliable sources conflict, the page may disclose the conflict while the team seeks clarification. When a claim cannot be verified, it may be labeled unverified or removed.

What happens after a correction is accepted?

When a correction is accepted, the page or underlying data is updated and its reviewed date changed. When the correction materially changes homeowner guidance, we consider adding a visible note explaining what changed and the effective date. Minor grammar, formatting, and broken-link corrections do not require a public notice.

Advertising does not affect corrections

A carrier or agent does not need to advertise with the directory to request a correction. As described in our editorial methodology, advertising or referral relationships do not determine whether a source is accepted, how a carrier is described, or how compatibility matching works.

Emergency corrections

Identify a submission as urgent when the page contains a potentially harmful active error involving:

  • A legal or regulatory deadline
  • A Citizens eligibility or flood requirement
  • A carrier no longer authorized in Florida
  • A claim-reporting instruction
  • A mortgage-servicing or force-placed-insurance rule
  • A tool calculation defect
  • A privacy or security issue
  • A confidential or nonpublic source concern — a page that may quote, summarize, or reveal information from an underwriter, private carrier communication, appointment-only document, agent portal, or other restricted source. Identify the page and the affected text; the site will temporarily remove or generalize the exact carrier-specific statement while the source and publication authorization are reviewed.

Urgent labeling does not guarantee acceptance, but it helps prioritize review.

Questions about an individual policy

The corrections process cannot decide an individual application, claim, policy interpretation, premium, cancellation, nonrenewal, or legal dispute. Contact the carrier, an appropriately licensed and appointed agent, your mortgage servicer, a Florida regulator, or another qualified professional responsible for that matter.
